Opus Launches: Landmark Residential Tower Begins Sales at Bankside Yards
May 8, 2025
Sales have officially launched for Opus, the first residential building at Bankside Yards – the transformative £2.5 billion development on London’s South Bank. Designed by PLP Architecture, the 170-metre tower will be the tallest residential building in prime central London and a new icon of sustainable, luxury urban living.
Marking the next phase of the UK’s first major fossil fuel-free mixed-use development, Opus follows PLP’s completion of Arbor, the district’s award-winning commercial hub. Once complete, the 50-storey building will offer 249 light-filled apartments with sweeping views across the city, from St Paul’s Cathedral to The Shard.
In keeping with Bankside Yards’ pioneering sustainability ethos, Opus will be powered by a 5th-generation energy-sharing network – the first of its kind at scale in the UK. The building will also host an impressive array of amenities for residents, including a hydrotherapy and current pool, padel court, podcasting studio, co-working spaces, and a private club on the 23rd floor.
Construction of Opus is already underway, with completion expected in early 2027. As the first residential building within the 5.5-acre Bankside Yards masterplan, it marks a major step in realising a new fossil fuel-free neighbourhood on the South Bank. The development will soon include a 171-key Mandarin Oriental hotel and six additional buildings, creating a vibrant, 24-hour destination that brings together homes, culture, workspaces and green public spaces beside the River Thames.
