Paul Knight

Senior Associate Partner

Paul is a Senior Associate Partner and a key member of the Visualisation department in the studio. He helps drive research into new technologies, primarily those centred around real-time visualisation techniques and how they can be applied to create new and engaging virtual environments for architects and clients alike. He was part of the KPF team, where he led initial investigations into the use of 3D printing as an additional model making tool prior to the formation of PLP Architecture.

His broad software skills range from 3DS Max, VRay, Rhino and After Effects to Unity and Unreal Engine, which are used to create more immersive and interactive virtual experiences.

At PLP he has most recently been researching the use of real-world and real-time data, such as traffic conditions or pollution data, as a means of augmenting visualisations. Additional current areas of research include augmented reality, photogrammetry and real-world material study to increase the accuracy of visualisation appearance. This research was used extensively on Twentytwo, now under construction in the City of London, where it helped to inform design decisions regarding the type and appearance of the glass used extensively on the facades.

He has worked on a wide variety of our most prominent work including Sky Central, the Francis Crick Institute, Imperial West I-HUB and Residential Tower, ONE Bishopsgate Plaza, and Nova Victoria.
