PLP Architecture Shares Circular Fit-Out Strategy in New Reports

October 30, 2025

PLP Architecture has published two new reports detailing the design and delivery of its new London studio – a pioneering workplace fit-out that reuses 92% of materials from the previous office and demonstrates the economic and environmental potential of a truly circular approach.

Located in Whitechapel, the studio was designed as a live testbed to explore circularity in real-time. The process challenged conventional assumptions about workplace design, questioning not only what was needed but also what could be saved, adapted or reimagined. The result: a workplace that saved the equivalent in carbon emissions of what 9,400 trees absorb in a year, while costing just 32% of a standard fit-out.

The project reflects PLP’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and experimentation through PLP Labs. The studio team used the opportunity to interrogate every decision – from furniture and finishes to spatial strategy – with reuse as a default. The studio is not only a place to work but a living demonstration of what’s possible when we design with circular principles from the outset.

To help others learn from the process, PLP has produced two in-depth papers:

  • Part A outlines the key strategies and decisions that shaped the project
  • Part B provides a detailed breakdown of the metrics behind the results

The reports are intended as a practical resource for clients, consultants and designers looking to adopt similar methodologies.
