Tina Qiu Discusses Placemaking and Urban Design in Singapore with EdgeProp
October 11, 2024
How can Singapore learn from other global urban design examples, to tackle some of the unique challenges it is set to face in the future of its development?
Tina Qiu, our Director and Singapore Studio Lead, recently shared her insights with EdgeProp Singapore, discussing how PLP’s international experience could provide innovative solutions to Singapore’s urban design challenges.
Tina highlighted the importance of creating inclusive, accessible, and thermally comfortable environments that encourage year-round use. She explained that Singapore’s tropical climate calls for thoughtful design solutions, such as underground connectivity and shaded public spaces, to boost foot traffic and enhance urban life.
Tina also emphasised the role of mixed-use developments in fostering 24/7 activity. “By integrating residential, commercial, and cultural spaces, we create destinations that are alive throughout the day and night,” she noted.
Currently, Tina is leading two flagship projects in Singapore: the luxury residential Park Nova and the redevelopment of Clifford Centre.
