Tower Ten awarded ActiveScore Platinum Certification
June 10, 2024
Tower Ten, PLP’s latest addition to the World Trade Center in Amsterdam, has been awarded a Platinum ActiveScore. The building is quoted by the awarding body as offering ‘the highest quality and comfort in both the individual offices and communal areas’.
ActiveScore is the world’s leading system for certifying active travel provision in buildings and on street. Contributing to Tower Ten’s certification were the buildings excellent transport links, with Schipol airport and the city centre only minutes away from the adjacent Amsterdam Zuid station, making it ideal for international businesses and visitors.
The building also features 1187 secure bike parking spaces for occupants and visitors have access to an additional 6660 spaces.
Sustainability was also a major consideration in the decision. The building stays one step ahead of Amsterdam’s evolving planning regulations, aiming to meet the goals of the Paris Climate Accord’—in addition to reusing the existing structure to retain embodied carbon, Tower Ten was also designed with efficiency at its heart. A new A+++ energy rating had to be introduced to accurately capture the building’s performance and low operational carbon use.
