Wallpaper* Features PLP Architecture’s Circular Studio Fit‑Out

September 1, 2025

Our new studio fit‑out in Whitechapel has been spotlighted by Wallpaper*, who praised its radical approach to circularity and resource-conscious design. In an article titled “A whopping 92% of this slick London office fit-out came from reused materials”, the publication explores how PLP Architecture has redefined the workplace interior by prioritising reuse, low-carbon strategies and material accountability.

The piece highlights that 92% of the materials used in the fit-out were reused, either from PLP’s previous studio or reclaimed from the existing space. With support from material passporting consultancy Maconda, the project team carefully tracked and verified the environmental savings: 175.78 tonnes of CO₂ were diverted, and the embodied carbon footprint was cut by 75% compared to a conventional fit-out.

Wallpaper* also notes the financial implications of this design strategy, at 68% of the cost of a typical fit-out, the project demonstrates that circular thinking can deliver value across multiple metrics without compromise on aesthetic or functional quality.

“This project demonstrates that circular fit‑outs don’t require compromise. By rethinking value and designing with intention, we’ve created a space that reflects our ethos, and set a model others can follow to achieve more with less.”
