Andrei Martin

Partner

Andrei Martin is a Partner with over 20 years of experience in residential, life-science, commercial and master planning projects in the UK, Europe, USA, China and the Middle East. He is a co-founder of PLP Labs – PLP’s design research platform that operates at the intersection of people, technology, and the planet.

As a designer, researcher, and educator, Andrei’s interest lies in hyper-mixed smart buildings – emerging building types that redefine the architecture of contemporary living and working. Through his work at PLP Architecture and PLP Labs, Andrei’s work leverages technology and life-centric design to address some of the most pressing challenges of our time.

Amongst his built works are several world-firsts, including the world’s first purpose-built lab for artificial intelligence, the Shanghai WLA AI Lab and the Collective Old Oak, the world’s first large-scale co-living building.

Andrei is also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Westminster and a European Living Concepts Council Member at the Urban Land Institute. He is the editor of Another Kind: A Survey of the Possible City (Actar, 2021). He publishes, exhibits and lectures internationally on topics ranging from artificial intelligence, designing for longevity, urban mobility, smart buildings and creativity.
