Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Al Maryah Island, is a man-made enclave between Al Reem Island, Abu Dhabi Island and Mina Zayed. Its central position enables the island to become a link between the city and the Louvre Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island. Central to this urban ligament stands the Four Seasons which, together with the adjacent Abu Dhabi stock exchange, establishes a pedestrian epicenter of metropolitan energy along the waterfront.

Assima, Kuwait City, Kuwait

At the end of 2013, PLP Architecture was awarded Municipal Permission for a new mixed-use complex situated in the Central Business District of Kuwait City. Having developed the detail and technical design, construction is now underway.

The site borders the rigid urban grid of the modern city on two sides and fronts a meandering route that leads to the sea. Indicative of an earlier river course and thoroughfare that twisted northward to the coast, this route inspires our design for the retail complex and the creation of a grand-scale and welcoming destination that will converge and integrate with the city.

Project Avenue, Muscat, Oman

Project Avenue in Muscat looks to create a destination landmark that is both rooted in local identity and that also captures the essence of the Omani capital’s continued growth as a modernizing city on the Arabian Peninsula. This large mixed-use development is located on a prominent site that is contextually connected to both old and new Muscat, between the grand mountains and the coastline of Oman. Its unique location enables the scheme to respond to the advancing character of the Omani capital while drawing inspiration from the rich rooted heritage of its environment.

Qatar Master Plan Doha, Qatar

The new Tianjin Binhai International Airport (IATA: TSN, ICAO: ZBTJ) is located east of Tianjin, in Dongli District in Northeastern China. The design of the project, won in an international competition, provides for the phased expansion of the development. Besides the new signature terminal building that serves as a gateway to this fourth largest city in China, the scheme includes the design of new runways, a new automated people mover system (APM) and main rail connection. The phased expansion will provide a state-of-the-art terminal building that triples the airport’s current capacity to a scale similar to that of Schiphol Airport, when completed.

New Kingdom Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Our design for the New Kingdom Hospital is inspired by the Bimaristan, the Middle East care-giving clinic and ancestor of the modern hospital. Like the Bimaristan, our design provides a close connection between the patient and nature, that relationship helping the patient’s recuperation.
