30 Minories and Writers House get the green light

January 26, 2024

We’re delighted to share that the City of London has approved our vision for 30 Minories and Writers House. Our designs look to bring impactful community benefits to the area, revitalise the Minories streetscape, create meaningful green and public spaces, and to develop a flexible and sustainable workplace.

Members of the committee described the development as “visually stimulating and attractive”, and highlighted the design saying, “I’d like to commend the architect for making something look externally interesting … it sets a really good standard for how buildings should look.”

30 Minories will provide best-in-class workspaces that, on every floor, have access to lush green terraces and balconies, which are framed by rounded corners and deep, self-shading brick reveals. Alongside it, Writers House is retained and celebrated as a dedicated community facility and workspace with affordable rates for local enterprises and start-ups.

The design activates the streetscape along Minories and the surrounding neighbourhood with improved connectivity, a new pocket park, and a lively programme of retail and leisure. At the same time, it is aiming for BREEAM Outstanding, WiredScore Platinum, WELL Platinum, and NABERS UK, and is targeting net zero carbon in operation.

A huge thank you to the City of London’s planning committee members and the officers for their guidance during pre-application stages. Our gratitude extends to our collaborative team: Patrizia, Morgan Capital, DP9, SWECO, AKT II, Montagu Evans, Core Five, Gillespies and Kim Wilkie, whose efforts have all helped move us closer to bringing this vision to life.

“We’re delighted that PLP Architecture’s designs for 30 Minories and Writers House have been approved, reinforcing the flight to quality in the London office market. We know this site intimately, with our offices being next door, and are committed to creating a scheme that will have a meaningful and much-needed positive impact on the local area and community.

We are excited to continue working with Patrizia, Morgan Capital and the wider project team, and to add to our portfolio of high-quality, healthy and commercially successful workplaces in London.”
