“Emerging Living Concepts” Andrei Martin, speaks at the ULI Poland Conference 2024

March 8, 2024

Andrei Martin, Partner at PLP Architecture, spoke at the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Poland’s event on Emerging Living Concepts. In a presentation and a panel discussion, Andrei explored how homes are evolving to embrace meaningful living.

In his presentation, Andrei explored four key trends that he has identified as driving this shift:

Culture Takes Centre Stage: Residential developments are increasingly incorporating cultural elements – event venues, micro-museums, artists spaces – fostering a stronger sense of belonging and connection.

Big Brands Join the Game: Established names are entering the residential market, offering branded experiences and a sense of living as an experience where emotion plays a big role.

Customisation is Key: People crave spaces that feel truly theirs. Developers are prioritizing flexible design features and personalization options to cater to individual needs.

Multigenerational Living on the Rise: We’re seeing a growing trend of multigenerational households. Developments are adapting to accommodate extended families, creating spaces specifically designed to foster connection across generations.

He explained how these trends point towards a crucial element, narrative. And that, at a time when meaning and purpose are paramount, the stories we tell ourselves about where we live matter more than ever.

“We yearn for meaning in our lives, and that’s especially true of the spaces we inhabit. But with the rise of mass-produced housing, have our homes lost their stories?”
