PLP Architecture was commissioned by Russia’s oldest and most respected bank, Sber, to develop an innovative repositioning and visioning framework for the business that reconsiders everything from its branding to its environments. Building on Sber’s recognised core strengths and values, PLP provided a range of creative services to help enable a new, ambitious and sweeping transformation into a tech company, which will see Sber embark on the biggest change in its 180 year history.

Roppongi Retail Development, Tokyo, Japan

An innovative new retail experience, this curving glazed building spreads over three undulating levels to bring visual intrigue to an historic Tokyo neighbourhood. The ground floor is visually open, with a large and column-free space providing a dynamic area for retail or f+b options. The the first is more enclosed to allow more private functions to take place, such as back-of-house, kitchens and or client meeting rooms. The rooftop is crowned with a planted roofscape, accessible to the street via a curving staircase and helping to increase the neighbourhood’s green appearance.

Corso Como Place, Porta Nuova, Milan, Italy

The Unilever Tower in Milan, built in 1962, had been a modernist landmark in the international style, although a recent misplaced attempt at recladding the facade has completely changed its character, rendering it unremarkable and undervalued. The existing block and surrounding buildings have become run-down, but its location is adjacent to the busy shopping street of Corso Como, and close to the mainline station at Porta Garibaldi. The motivation for this design project is to reinvigorate the building to provide contemporary office space, whilst also making it a relevant urban counterpoint to the vibrant neighbourhood nearby.

Kaleidoscope completes in central London, will be the flagship new UK headquarters for social media giant TikTok

Kaleidoscope, PLP Architecture’s dynamic new office building in the City of London, has been completed on a high-profile site next to Smithfield Market. The colourful structure will become Tiktok’s new UK Headquarters and includes 5,500sqm of modern and efficient office space with a WiredScore Platinum rating and outstanding views out over the surrounding historic neighbourhood.

PLP Labs, Centric Lab and Comuzi have launched Know Your Health, an online tool and downloadable guide to help people living in cities identify how their environment is impacting their health, and then empower them to improve their situation and long-term health resilience as individuals and a community.

Qatar Master Plan Doha, Qatar

The new Tianjin Binhai International Airport (IATA: TSN, ICAO: ZBTJ) is located east of Tianjin, in Dongli District in Northeastern China. The design of the project, won in an international competition, provides for the phased expansion of the development. Besides the new signature terminal building that serves as a gateway to this fourth largest city in China, the scheme includes the design of new runways, a new automated people mover system (APM) and main rail connection. The phased expansion will provide a state-of-the-art terminal building that triples the airport’s current capacity to a scale similar to that of Schiphol Airport, when completed.
